Chairmen Guthrie and Latta Announce Hearing to Support Affordable Nuclear Energy to Power America
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and Congressman Bob Latta (OH-05), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy, announced a hearing titled, “Nuclear Spent Fuel Policy: Examining Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses.”
“For decades, nuclear energy has provided Americans with safe, reliable, and affordable power. As our nation continues to unleash this critical energy source, it’s vital that we modernize our fuel cycle to secure energy dominance,” said Chairmen Guthrie and Latta. “The Department of Energy is working to achieve this by considering the establishment of Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses, which will co-locate fuel cycle activities including fabrication, enrichment, reprocessing, and waste disposal alongside potential advanced reactors, manufacturing, or data centers. This hearing will provide our Members with the opportunity to examine how these campuses can support innovation, while helping to deliver reliable baseload energy in the years ahead.”
