GREENSBORO, NC, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. demonstrated its continued dedication to community action and youth wellness during the North Carolina State Leadership Conference by partnering with First Responder Kits4Kids, the Greensboro Police Department, and the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office to assemble 300 pediatric trauma and distraction comfort kits.

The hands-on service initiative brought together over 60 Zeta Phi Beta sorority members, community leaders, and local law enforcement personnel to directly support children experiencing acute distress during 911 emergency calls across Guilford County.

Supporting Children During High-Stress Calls

When police officers and emergency personnel arrive at critical incidents—such as motor vehicle collisions, domestic disputes, or structural fires—children on the scene often suffer severe emotional distress and sensory overload.

To mitigate psychological trauma in real time, these 300 specialized kits provide immediate comfort, sensory engagement, and emotional grounding. Each kit includes hospital-grade interactive play pads developed by the Playtime Therapy Sheets Foundation, therapeutic sensory toys, noise-canceling headphones, vital first-aid and hygiene necessities, and handwritten notes of encouragement created directly by Zeta Phi Beta members and officers.

All 300 completed kits were loaded directly into patrol cruisers and emergency vehicles, ensuring Greensboro police officers and Guilford County deputies have immediate access to child-focused crisis intervention tools.

A Legacy of Community Leadership and Service

Community service is a core tenet of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Through initiatives like this, the sorority continues to address critical gaps in youth welfare, mental health, and community-police relations.

“Our commitment to service goes beyond words; it is reflected in the tangible support we bring to our communities,” said leadership representatives of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. “Partnering with First Responder Kits4Kids alongside the Greensboro Police Department and Guilford County Sheriff’s Office allowed our members to make an immediate, compassionate impact on vulnerable children at moments when they need comfort the most.”

The collaboration also highlighted the power of positive community-police engagement. By assembling emergency kits side by side, sorority members and law enforcement officers reinforced a shared mission to protect, uplift, and comfort North Carolina's youngest residents.

National Movement to Protect Young Victims

First Responder Kits4Kids, founded by Kevin Gatlin and James Fisher-Davis, equips emergency personnel nationwide with child-friendly tools that transform how first responders care for pediatric victims on scene.

“When emergency responders arrive at a chaotic scene, having the right tool to calm a terrified child changes the entire dynamic,” said Kevin Gatlin, Co-Founder of First Responder Kits4Kids. “Zeta Phi Beta Sorority brought immense energy, compassion, and leadership to this project. Because of their hard work, 300 children across Guilford County will receive comfort and psychological first aid right when they need it most.”
